U.S. Rep. Vito Fossella, who represents Staten Island and parts of Brooklyn, N.Y., has acknowledged that he fathered a child from an extramarital affair three years ago. He made the announcement during a May 8, 2008 news conference about a recent DWI arrest in Alexandria, Va. "My personal failings and imperfections have caused enormous pain to the people I love and I am truly sorry," said the conservative Republican. Word of a "love child" surfaced after Fossella reportedly told police during the DWI stop that he was on his way to visit a sick daughter.
