Former Sen. Gary Hart, D-Colo., was forced to step down from his 1988 bid to win the Democratic nomination for president after the Miami Herald, acting on an anonymous tip, broke news of his affair with blonde Donna Rice. Two days later the paper obtained a photo of the two of them on a yacht. Hart, who had dared the media to dig into his personal affairs, lost much support and withdrew from the race a week after the Herald had broken the story. (AP Photo)
