Dec. 9, 1967 -- Lynda Bird Johnson married Marine Corps Capt. Charles Spittal Robb in the East Room, also known as the Blue Room of the White House. Her high-necked , high-waistline princess-line dress was designed by Geoffrey Beene. Robb served with distinction in Vietnam and became governor of Virginia, making Lynda First Lady of Virginia. He also served as a two-term senator of Virginia. This file photo shows newlyweds Marine Corps Capt. Charles S.
