A Window Into Bill Gates

After his retirement from the company, Gates will focus on working with his philanthropic foundation. Here, Bill and Melinda Gates visit a young patient suffering from malaria in the Manhica Research Center and hospital in Mozambique in 2003. The couple announced in Manhica that their foundation was funding three grants totaling $168 million to fight malaria. The grants will accelerate the search for a malaria vaccine, new drugs to fight drug-resistant malaria, and new treatment strategies for children.
