Mysterious Cases
Amelia Earhart stands in front of her bi-plane called "Friendship" in Newfoundland, June 14, 1928. Earhart (1898 - 1937) disappeared without trace over the Pacific Ocean in her 1937 attempt to become the first woman fly around the world. The 23-year-old vanished into the Pacific Ocean 24 hours after leaving Lae, New Guinea. Problems with radio-direction finding navigation are said to be the cause of losing track of Earhart and her flying partner, Fred Noonan. Other researchers assert that the plane ran out of fuel, and crashed into the Pacific Ocean. For years, millions of dollars were spent on investigations and deep sea probes, but with no luck. Fascination with her disappearance continues.
